Former MotoGP world champion Nicky Hayden, 35, has died five days after being involved in a cycling accident in Italy.
Hayden was struck by a car while bicycling as part of his training on the Rimini coast.
The 35-year-old succumbed to head, chest and abdomen trauma after colliding with the car's windshield.
The Kentucky-born world champion — fondly known as The Kentucky Kid — previously raced for the Red Bull Honda World Superbike team and had 28 podium finishes to his name.
